As we step into the season of Lent, we’re invited into a time of spiritual focus that has been cherished by Christians for centuries.
Lent spans the 40 days leading up to Easter (excluding Sundays), starting with Ash Wednesday when we have a special service of Holy Communion with the imposition of ashes, starting at 9:30am.
Lent is a season rooted in preparation. Just as Jesus fasted and prayed before beginning His public ministry, we’re called to prepare for the celebration of His sacrificial death and glorious resurrection.
In 2025, our world feels busier than ever. Between work, family, and the constant pull of screens, it’s easy to let our spiritual lives slide into autopilot. Lent offers us a contrast—a chance to slow down and ask: What’s shaping me? Where do I need God’s grace most? It’s less about giving up chocolate or coffee and more about what we’re making room for deeper trust, renewed hope, and a stronger connection to our Lord and Saviour.
Why not join us for Compline every Tuesday evening at 7:00pm though Lent beginning on March 11th. There’ll be quiet music and a time of reflection and prayer.
Or you may like to consider what you might set aside this season. It could be a meal, social media, or even that extra hour of TV. Use the time to reflect or read Scripture instead.
Lent is a perfect time to share God’s love. In her blog Annika Greco Thompson writes about Generosity as a path to transformation.
As we walk toward Easter together, let’s embrace Lent not as a burden, but as a gift—a sacred time to draw near to the One who gave everything for us. We’d love to hear how you’re experiencing this season, so feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
As we prepare and reflect may this Lent be a time of renewal for you, for our church, and for the world around us. Let’s journey together toward the cross—and the empty tomb beyond it.
