Something for Everyone

 Hello everyone,

I know for many of us the summer holidays have been a busy time with children and grandchildren. I know that for many others of us they've been a quieter time, a lull in the year's activities.

Whichever summer has been yours, the new school year is nearly here!

The new term is also bringing new and exciting activities at St James.

These new activities are aimed at serving and welcoming-in those beyond our church family, as we seek to fulfil Jesus' call on us to be a blessing to our community.

Through our: 
1) Community cafe on a Tuesday morning, 
2) After-school Lego club for Primary school children and parents on a Tuesday afternoon, 
3) Toddler group on Friday mornings, 
we are hoping to reach out to all ages in Gatley. 

Our prayer is that these activities will build new connections and relationships, allowing new people to interact with church. God willing, over time, we hope that that will create a space for those interested in finding out more about Christianity to connect in with St James.

We've been so encouraged to see how many people want to help with these activities, but there's always need for more helpers. If you think you have time to help with even one of these activities please do get in touch. You don't need to be an expert in anything, just have a desire to serve!

And serving in these activities is a really great concrete way to respond to Jesus' call on our lives. As we've seen in our series in Luke, as he has loved us by serving us, so he calls us to love others by serving them.

We would really appreciate it if everyone could pray for these new activities when they can. 

In particular: prayers that we would have the volunteers we need, that people would come, that new relationships would be forged, and that ultimately over time more people would come to find the love of God made real in their lives in Jesus.

Looking back on the last 10 months with you all we are so thankful for you all, and so amazed at what God has already done at St James.

On 6th September we are going to have a vision day service, a space to look back on and give thanks for what's happened over these last 10 months, and to think and pray about what God might be doing in our church over the next year.

Thank you again for all you do. It is a real joy to be a part of this church family.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
And the love of God
And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
